Join Us for Wadsworth’s America 250 Celebration on June 27 The Village of Wadsworth is excited to invite residents, families, businesses, organizations, and community groups to participate in our America 250 Celebration on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Wadsworth Village Park. This community celebration will recognize the 250th anniversary of the United States with a full day of patriotic programming, live entertainment, family activities, community participation, and opportunities for residents of all ages to come together and celebrate. Planned activities include a Patriotic Bike Parade, old-time family games and contests, bounce house, face painting, live music, a live reading of the Declaration of Independence, recognition of Essay Contest winners, dedication of the Village time capsule, and more throughout the day and evening. Food and refreshments will be available throughout the celebration, including community giveaways, local vendors, and evening food and beverage service. Residents and students are invited to participate in the Village’s America 250 Essay Contest reflecting on what America’s 250th anniversary means to them and the role communities like Wadsworth play in the American story. Community Time Capsule
The Village is creating a community time capsule to preserve memories, photographs, letters, stories, and items representing life in Wadsworth in 2026. The capsule is planned to remain sealed until America’s 300th anniversary celebration in 2076. Volunteer Opportunities We are currently seeking volunteers to help with event setup, kids activities, parking assistance, general event support, and cleanup throughout the day. Strategically located in northern Lake County, IL, the Village spreads across Benton, Newport and Warren Townships, and is centered within the Cities of Waukegan and Zion, and the Villages of Beach Park, Gurnee and Old Mill Creek.
