While a permit is not required to have a garage sale upon one's own residential property in the Village of Wadsworth, or to sell a vehicle from one's own residential property, the following guidelines (see Secs. 3-2-1 et seq.) do apply to such garage and vehicle sales in the Village:

Garage Sales

---  no more than two (2) garage sales may be conducted on the lot in any calendar year;

--- the sales must be incidental to the use of the property for residential purposes, and must be conducted in such a manner as to be compatible with the area's residential character; 

--- the garage sale may be conducted for no longer than four (4) consecutive days in duration;

--- the sales events may only be conducted during daylight hours; 

--- no more than two (2) signs may be used to advertise a permitted garage sale event;

--- any such sign may not exceed four (4) square feet in area; and

--- any such sign must be located within the boundaries of the lot on which the sale takes place, or on other private property, with the consent of the owner.

 

Vehicle Sales

 The temporary sale of a "vehicle" must comply with the following conditions:

--- only permitted in a residential zoning district, and only on a lot containing a residential dwelling unit;

--- only one fully operable vehicle may be sold on a lot at any given time; and

--- only two (2) vehicles may be sold on a lot during the course of a rolling calendar year;

For these purposes, a "vehicle" is defined as a noncommercial automobile or recreational vehicle that is generally of the same size or smaller than a pickup truck, van, or sport utility vehicle typically associated with residentially-generated transportation needs. Also, the vehicle must be registered to the address on which it is located for sale in the Village. Furthermore, the vehicle must be displayed on an improved, paved surface, and not on the grass! In addition, Such a vehicle may be located within thirty (30) feet of a right-of-way (ROW) line, provided that appropriate sightlines are maintained for the safety of vehicles and pedestrians, but in no case closer than ten (10) feet to a ROW line. Finally, only two (2) "For Sale" signs, not exceeding three (3) square feet each, may be displayed within the windows, along with the contact information, and any writing may not be directly painted on the vehicle or on the windows.
